  • Connie O. Schmidt, DVM, Practice Owner

Dr. Connie Schmidt cannot remember a time when she did not want to become a veterinarian. After 30 years in the field, she still enjoys her work, and tells aspiring students, “It is a great career, because I have never been bored.”

She was a member of the first class of Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1983. She came to Lebanon for her first job, working in a mixed practice for 18 months before striking out on her own as a solo practitioner.

She started Lebanon Animal Hospital, P.C. working out of her home, and then moved into her current location in town. Through the years, the practice has grown and evolved, now employing roughly 20 people.

Dr. Schmidt likes working on all species, but especially enjoys cats and horses. She has a special interest in equine reproduction. She loves having state of the art equipment, and has always prided herself in providing cutting edge medicine in a semi-rural setting.

Dr. Schmidt has an active ranch just outside of Lebanon, and raises registered Shorthorn cattle, Dorset sheep, Quarter Horses, Paints, Arabians, and Saddlebred Horses. She enjoys riding, driving, and showing her horses with her husband Ken Walling. She also loves gardening and growing plants of all kinds. Her sons Loren and Christian can be found working at the hospital part time while going to college and high school respectively. The family pets include four Border Collies, a Dachshund, a Chihuahua, and approximately 10 cats, and four hens.
